Something reeks of agenda, corporate capitalism and vested interest.
There's this Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis thing happening this Saturday, 7.07.07, over our screens.
It's great to see our favourite musicians on stage. I mean, there's gonna be Deep Purple, The Police, and other bands that I respect.
But I can't help but fall back on the thought that I've been forming in my mind since day one.
That strangely, most musicians are really a bunch of socially unskeptical, stupid people.
Not strangely though, is that these concerts that will supposedly "solve" climate change is organised by Al-Gore himself.
This reeks of political agenda.
This sucks.
And all of the 150 musicians who have pledged their support for Live-Earth? There's money to be made! And free exposure too, over 7 fucking continents in the world!
The great irony is this: You're organising big concerts that will air over the whole fucking globe, in the process you're going to use a substantial amount of energy only possible through burning fuel. How's that going to go down as "solving" cilmate change??
It's fucking hypocritical.
I think there's money to be made through this venture. It's an excuse to make money. All organised by the guy who couldn't make it into presidency and still keeps on reminding people that he 'used to be America's Vice-President'.
I've heard the organisers say there are using sustainable lighting and energy resources. Can you not be so vague and tell us what exactly are you using? We're not stupid you know. Are you going to use solar panels, like the way you are pressurizing Africa and other developing countries to not use their fuels and use solar panels that give out a measly amount of electricity?
This is not Live Aid. The people of Live Aid had a specific goal in mind: Famine relief in Ethopia. And I respect that. And I respect the musicians who went to perform. Bands that include U2, Judas Priest, Dire straits too. Any wonder why these bands, especially U2, is not in Live Gore? Eh?
This sucks to the core. Look at the bands that are in Live Earth (Gore). Fucking poppycockers, if you will.
And what of the advertisements? Yeah, that's credit to be given. Switch off, turn off what you don't need. I like that, really. That's short and simple, and effective t bring ideas across. But the idea of the rock concert? That's stupid.
Global warming and all, if you will, has to be a compromise between the government and the people and most importantly, the different industries in the world. If you want to cut down on greenhouse emissions, that means you'll have to compromise on your economic growth. If everyone really, really decreases their energy usage, your energy companies will lose money which will means less business for them. When finally your energy companies aren't that motivated to burn fuel as before, then guess where your electricity will come from?
This is not a "problem" that can be solved by having a large-scale rock concert where it is not mentioned where the fucking loads of money's that going to be made is going.
Chew on it.
