My time is mine alone

and that's why it runs the risk of being messed up. I try to manage my time well and all but you know distractions such as this one blog post really just eats up time for my Food Term Paper.

Oh there are other distractions too. Ever since I came back from leaning against the walls of AS7 with a guitar and a soul-riching female voice my mind's been all about bossa nova and jazz and blues. It doesn't help that I haven't played my recorder in days, weeks perhaps, and that my guitar has had a new set of strings.

It all began with a simple blues progression in E. It was Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel; she insisted singing it, and while I'm not really an Elvis fan, the blues progression really got on to me. After she recorded an E blues shuffle improv I did, I did wonder if I could do much more out of that E blues.

Using 7ths this time, I interlaced rhythm with lead, where in intervals there are slight spaces of time where you can slot in a lick or two. Soon I've got a structure and the branches and all and I've got something to work on.

and that's really taking up my time. 1 hour into writing the term paper decides that I need a break, the guitar it is, and I start playing the same 3 sections, over and over again... I mean, if Judy guitar wants to play the blues, she does it so damn well, except that the single coil pickups don't really cut it well... but i've been playing clean off the amp. One round of the whole progression is about 5 minutes, and I play.... 10 rounds?

that;'s like one hour gone man.

So if the tutor ever asks me why I might not be able to complete the term paper on time, I should whip out my guitar and play her the blues roundabout. Then maybe, she can understand my enthrallment with the blues and my passion for music, and grant me a free meal.
